Dr Jessica Williams
Imperial College Research Fellow
I am a conservation biologist with a particular interest in studying how biodiversity is responding to local and global drivers of change, and how this impacts nature’s contributions to people. I am currently carrying out a fellowship at Imperial, in which I am exploring Anthropocene landscape permeability for species key to human health and well-being (in particular, species impacting food system sustainability and zoonotic disease risk).
Before my current role, I worked as part of the Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems project. Along with co-authors from University College London and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, I investigated the impacts of land-use and climate change on biodiversity within South African agricultural areas, and the resilience of nature's benefits to people under such changes.
I am currently on the committee for the BES Conservation Ecology Special Interest Group (ECR Rep), and for Landscape Ecology UK (the UK chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology). If you'd like to find out more about either, feel free to get in touch!
Outside of work I am a keen climber (treasurer of the North London Mountaineering Club), walker, and baker, so can often be found trying to make my way up a rockface or making a mess in the kitchen!
